Chris Walken's Personal Interests

He's a real pet lover...

pussinboots.JPG (42248 bytes) Chris has owned both dogs and cats during his lifetime, and at the moment, Chris and Georgianne own two cats - Grace and Wolf.  One beloved cat in particular inspired Chris to write a foreword to the cat care guide K.I.S.S. Guide to Cat Care by Steve Duno.  The following is excerpted from that foreword:

"We have domesticated many animals, but cats seem to have retained a sense of the forest.   Their cleanliness is famous.  They have grace in so many ways.  From the tintinnabulation of their walk, to the way they tend to leave a small amount of food in the bottom of their bowl in what looks to me like an offering.  Their self assurance and ability to articulate their needs to us with such clarity and insistence.  They pose for us as naturally as Garbo because they are entitled to." -- Christopher Walken

Yes, he paints...

"I am an abstract painter, but I don't mix colours up too much. I like clear reds and yellows and greens and orange. My paintings are not a mess. They are sort of neat abstracts. Very colourful, but not about anything in particular; they are not bowls of fruit or anything. But very nice, very pleasant." -- Christopher Walken, Daily Telegraph, 03-11-2002.

The DCA Gallery in New York City introduced Christopher Walken in his debut exhibition of  "Works on Paper".  The exhibition ran during the months of March and April 2003.

He's a big Bugs Bunny fan...

He's so smart, he's so funny, he's got such a great attitude.  Bugs Bunny is the spirit of New York.

"You can't fool Bugs Bunny. That's all I have to say. He's on to everybody."
-- Christopher Walken, The Washington Post, 08-05-2001.

He writes too...

Chris has done some playwriting as well.  One of his plays even made it to the stage in 1994 with Chris in the main role.  The play, entitled Him, was a satirical look at the afterlife of Elvis Presley.  Incidentally, Chris is a huge fan of Elvis and said that he chooses to wear his hair in a style similar to the way Elvis wore his.

And he loves to cook!

walkencooks2.jpg (5641 bytes)"Cooking is like the family business.  My father was a baker all his life.  He comes from a big family in Germany.  His father was a baker. His brothers are bakers.  He came to America and opened a bakery in Queens and had it for 60 years." -- Christopher Walken, The New York Observer, 09-18-2000.

Julian Schnabel and Chris Walken once created a cooking show for Split Screen called  Cooking with Chris.  And Walken has said he will probably do another cooking show sometime in the future.
