Migration / Configuration Information for Config PPP for the MacOS

Instructions on How to Change the Phone Number and DNS using Config PPP (Free PPP 1.0.5) for Mac OS:

To change the User ID and Phone Number:

  1. Select Control Panels from the Apple pull-down menu and select Config PPP.

  2. Click the Config button.

  3. Delete the contents of the Phone Number field.

  4. Enter the new phone number in the Phone Number field (676-1821 if you have a 56k modem, or 649-6750 if you have a 33.6k or slower modem) .

  5. Click done.

  6. Close the Config PPP window.

To change the Domain Name Servers in TCP/IP:

You will first need to determine whether you are using the MacTCP or TCP/IP Control Panel. You will have one or the other, but not both. Select Control Panels from the Apple pull-down menu and select MacTCP or TCP/IP.



MacTCP: To change the Domain Name Servers

  1. Click the More button.

  2. Select Server in the top-left.

  3. Complete the Domain Name Server information as follows:

    Domain                       IP Address
    ojai.net                  209.144.103.10
    ojai.net                  209.144.103.11

  4. Click OK. Close MacTCP and restart your computer. You must restart your computer for these changes to take affect.



TCP/IP: To change the Domain Name Servers

  1. Next to Connect via, select PPP.

  2. Next to Configure, select Using PPP Server.

  3. Select User Mode from the Edit menu. Select Basic and click OK.

  4. In the Name server address box, type the following:

    209.144.103.11

  6. In the Search domains box, enter ojai.net

  7. Close TCP/IP and save the changes.
